Frequently Asked Questions
The touchscreen on our M227fdw says the drum is at the end of its life. Is this the part it means?
Yes. The M227fdw tracks two consumables separately: the toner cartridge, and the imaging drum — the HP 32A, part number CF232A, which is this listing. When the drum warning appears it is asking for this unit, not another toner. Fitting it clears the message and starts a fresh count.
Why did the printer keep printing after the warning first appeared?
The warning is an early notice based on pages imaged, and the drum's surface usually has some grace left. What follows, if it stays, is the slide the warning predicts: prints and copies fading evenly, fine lines repeating, a grey cast behind text. Message first, symptoms as you keep going.
Does this drum suit the wireless flagship of the M227 line?
It does. Every LaserJet Pro M203 and M227 model — the LaserJet M203dw, the M227fdw and their siblings — shares one print engine and one 32A drum, working beside CF230A or CF230X toner. Touchscreen and wireless hardware set the models apart; the drum specification does not change.
Will changing the drum disturb our Wi-Fi setup or saved settings?
No. The replacement happens entirely in the consumables bay: toner out, old CF232A out, new drum seated. Network settings, address book entries and copy defaults live elsewhere and are untouched. Close the lid and the printer is back on the wireless network exactly as before.
How many toner cartridges will this one drum see out?
Several. Toners here are rated in the low thousands of pages, while the drum is rated for up to 23,000 pages, so a fresh CF232A typically serves through a whole succession of CF230A and CF230X changes. That long span is why the drum warning surprises people when it arrives.
What cover does this drum carry?
A 1-year warranty together with 1-year free returns. Orders dispatch from our warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California, help is available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and the shipping and returns page sets out the full terms.
About This CF232A Drum for the LaserJet Pro M227fdw
This HP 32A (CF232A) imaging drum is priced at $32.32 and rated for up to 23,000 pages, made for the LaserJet Pro M227fdw. It is the part the printer's own screen asks for at the end of a drum's life — and fitting it returns prints and copies to the crisp output the reports were promising.
