Frequently Asked Questions

What does the 6605DN configuration mean for everyday black use?

The DN model pairs the WorkCentre 6605's multifunction engine — print, copy, scan, fax — with a network connection and automatic two-sided output. In practice it means black toner is consumed from every direction at once: network print jobs, walk-up copies run two-sided, and faxes received overnight. The cartridge specified for that workload is this 106R02228, the high-yield black rated at up to 8,000 pages.

Is this listing for one cartridge or several?

One cartridge. The name's wording runs plural, but the listing itself is a single unit: one compatible 106R02228 black cartridge for $40.71. If the machine's appetite calls for reserves, the family's multi-packs carry the bundle pricing.

Which printers does this cartridge fit?

The WorkCentre 6605dn it is named for, the base WorkCentre 6605, and the printer-only branch of the family — the Phaser 6600, Phaser 6600dn, Phaser 6600n and Phaser 6600ydn. Duplex and network letters vary from model to model; the black part number, 106R02228, never does.

How does the cost per page work out?

Roughly 0.51 cents: a $40.71 cartridge rated at up to 8,000 pages. On a machine that prints and copies all day, that per-page figure — not the cartridge's sticker — is the number that determines what the 6605DN really costs to run.

Should I expect the full 8,000 pages?

The rating is measured at around 5% page coverage, the standard benchmark. Copied documents and dense paperwork tend to run heavier than that benchmark, so a hard-working 6605DN may finish a cartridge sooner; lighter use stretches it further. Either way, the rating is the honest basis for comparing this cartridge with any other.

What cover comes with the cartridge?

A one-year warranty with one-year free returns, described on the shipping and returns page. Orders ship from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, support runs Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and the complete range is on our Xerox toner page.
