Frequently Asked Questions

Why do color copies from the 6605 look washed out when the original looks fine in your hand?

A copy is a print wearing a disguise: the scanner reads the original faithfully, then the print engine rebuilds it from the four cartridges. If the yellow cartridge is weak, the rebuild loses every warm tone — skin goes gray-pink, golds flatten, greens cool toward blue. The original is not the problem; the yellow supply behind the glass is.

Do copies draw on this cartridge the same way computer prints do?

Yes. Copying, printing and fax output all fuse toner from the same four cartridges in the WorkCentre 6605. Scanning a document to a file, by contrast, uses no toner at all — the cartridge is only spent when paper comes out. That is why a scanning-heavy office can still be surprised by how fast a copying-heavy week drains it.

How can you test the cartridge from the machine itself?

Use the 6605's own control panel to print a demo or print-quality page — no computer needed. The test prints solid patches for each color; a pale or uneven yellow patch confirms this cartridge is the weak one before you spend money on any other supply.

What yield should you plan around for a copying workload?

Up to 6,000 pages at the standard 5% coverage measure. Copied photographs and full-color originals carry far more than 5% coverage, so a copy-heavy 6605 will move through the rating faster than a print-light one — plan the spare earlier if your machine copies color all day.

What does a copied color page cost in yellow?

The cartridge is $40.71, and over its 6,000-page rating the yellow component lands at about 0.68 cents per page — the number to carry into any copy-cost estimate for this machine.

What happens if the cartridge underperforms?

It is backed by a 1-year warranty and free returns for a full year. The complete policy is on our shipping and returns page. Orders ship from our warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and support is reachable Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
