Frequently Asked Questions

What does "up to 1,400 pages" really promise for a cartridge I barely notice using?

The rating assumes roughly 5% of each page is covered in yellow. On mixed office work — a logo here, a highlighted row there — yellow sips rather than gulps, so a single 106R1629 at $29.92 can serve for a long stretch. Full-bleed color pages are the exception; they spend every cartridge, this one included, far faster than the rating suggests.

Do the V/N letters after "6015" call for a different yellow cartridge?

No. Those letters describe how the machine itself is configured; the supply bay underneath is the same across the range. The yellow slot in a 6015V/N takes the 106R1629, exactly like its plainer-named siblings — the code on the cartridge, not the suffix on the printer, is what decides.

Why does the listing say "Cartridges" if there is only one in the box?

Because the catalog names this whole family in the plural. The reality is simpler: one yellow cartridge, $29.92, in the box. Nothing about this listing bundles multiples — when packs of the 106R1629 are offered, they carry their own listings and their own prices.

My photos look drained and faces look pale. Is yellow the culprit again?

Very likely. Skin tones are built largely from yellow and magenta; take the yellow away and faces turn cold and waxy while sunsets and warm interiors lose their glow. Black text will look flawless the whole time, which is why this cartridge's decline hides until a photo exposes it.

Which other machines run on this same yellow?

The full platform: Phaser 6000, Phaser 6010 and Phaser 6010N printers, and the WorkCentre 6015, WorkCentre 6015V/B and this WorkCentre 6015V/N. Keep the code 106R1629 and any of them can share a spare.

What cover do I get with it?

A one-year warranty and free returns for one full year, detailed on the shipping and returns page. We dispatch from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and support runs Monday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST. The wider range for these machines is browsable on the Xerox toner page.
