Frequently Asked Questions

Why is yellow the cartridge offices forget to keep a spare of?

Because its failure never looks like its own. An empty black cartridge stops the show and an empty cyan turns the sky gray — both get reordered the same day. An empty yellow just makes greens look blue and oranges look red, so it gets blamed on other colors, other files, other people. Weeks pass, and when the truth surfaces there is no spare on the shelf. The 106R02227 is precisely the cartridge to stock ahead.

What misdiagnoses does a dead yellow cartridge cause?

The usual one is replacing the cyan: greens printing blue looks like a cyan problem, but green is cyan plus yellow, and when the yellow half vanishes the blue is what remains. Oranges printing red get blamed on magenta the same way. A thirty-second supplies check — or a test page — points at the yellow before money is spent on the innocent colors.

Does the YDN variant take a different cartridge from the rest of the line?

No. The letters after 6600 describe the machine's configuration, not its appetite: the Phaser 6600YDN uses the same 106R02227 yellow as the Phaser 6600, Phaser 6600N and Phaser 6600DN, and the same cartridge also feeds the WorkCentre 6605 and WorkCentre 6605DN.

How long does one cartridge last?

It carries a rating of up to 6,000 pages at 5% coverage. Color-rich work spends it faster, text-heavy work slower — but either way, its low-key symptoms mean the level gauge, not the output quality, is the signal worth watching.

What is the per-page cost of keeping a spare?

The cartridge itself is $40.71; across its 6,000-page rating that is roughly 0.68 cents per page for yellow. As insurance against a stalled color job, it is among the cheapest spares in the supply cabinet.

What protection does it carry?

A 1-year warranty and free returns for a full year. The terms are laid out on our shipping and returns page. We ship from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, with support on hand Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
