Frequently Asked Questions

Our 6600YDN's sunsets and warm photos have lost all their red. Which cartridge is fading?

The magenta one. Sunsets, autumn scenes and warm product shots are built from heavy magenta, and when the cartridge thins out those images collapse first — reds go dull orange, pinks vanish, and the whole picture turns cool. Black text will keep printing crisply through all of it, which is exactly why the color loss sneaks up on people. The replacement is the 106R02226.

Is the YDN's magenta a special part, or the platform cartridge?

The platform cartridge. The 6600YDN is a variant within the 6600 family, and its supplies never splintered off into variant-specific parts — the same high-yield magenta serves the base model, the networked and duplex versions, and the WorkCentre multifunctions built on the platform.

Which models does the 106R02226 serve?

The Phaser 6600, Phaser 6600N, Phaser 6600DN, Phaser 6600YDN, WorkCentre 6605 and WorkCentre 6605DN.

How do we confirm the cartridge already in the machine is this code before reordering?

Read the code, not the model name. The part number is printed on the cartridge label, and the machine's supplies screen lists it as well. Match "106R02226" and the magenta position; the printer's suffix letters — N, DN, YDN — never change which code belongs in the slot.

How much printing does one cartridge hold, and at what cost?

Up to 6,000 pages at the standard 5% coverage rating, for $40.71 — roughly 0.68 cents per page for the magenta component. Photo-heavy work will land short of the rating; text-with-graphics office work comes much closer.

What backing comes with it?

A 1-year warranty and free returns for a full year. The details are on our shipping and returns page. Orders ship from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, with support Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
