Frequently Asked Questions

I print a lot of color graphics — what do the page ratings really mean for me?

Less than the headline numbers, and it helps to know why. The color cartridges are each rated at up to 6,000 pages at 5% coverage — a page that is mostly white. A brochure, chart or full-color graphic can cover half the page or more, using several times the toner of the test page. For graphics-heavy work, treat 6,000 as the comparison scale between cartridges, and expect real color life to land well under it.

What cartridges come in this set?

The platform's complete high-yield family, one per position: 106R02228 for black, 106R02225 for cyan, 106R02226 for magenta and 106R02227 for yellow. All four colors your printer mixes from are covered by the group, so a single order resets the whole toner shelf for the machine.

On graphics work, which cartridge is likely to finish first?

Usually one of the colors rather than black. Black, the 106R02228, holds the largest rating in the set at up to 8,000 pages, and graphics lean hardest on whichever color dominates your artwork — a blue house style burns cyan, warm branding burns magenta and yellow. That is exactly why the positions are monitored separately: the set lets you replace the one that gives out and leave the others working.

What does the YDN in the model name mean for toner fitment?

Nothing that changes the cartridge. The suffix describes the printer's configuration, and the toner bay is common to the range. The set is listed under the Phaser 6600YDN name and equally covers the Phaser 6600, Phaser 6600N and Phaser 6600DN, plus the WorkCentre 6605 and WorkCentre 6605DN multifunction models.

How should the unopened cartridges be kept between changes?

Sealed, flat, and somewhere cool and dry — a stationery cupboard is ideal. Keep them out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources, and open each one only when its position in the printer is actually empty. Stored that way, the remaining cartridges from a set keep in good condition across the months it can take to work through them.

What protection does the purchase carry?

A 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, with the details set out on our shipping and returns page. Stock is dispatched from our IL, PA, GA and CA warehouses, and support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST if you want the fitment double-checked before you order.
