Frequently Asked Questions

What does the number 106R02228 actually identify?

It is Xerox's part number for one specific supply: the high-yield black toner cartridge for the Phaser 6600 and WorkCentre 6605 color printer families. This listing is that cartridge in compatible form — a single black cartridge, rated at up to 8,000 pages. When you order by the part number rather than by a printer name, you are ordering the exact supply your machine was built around.

How does the cost work out per page?

At $40.71 for up to 8,000 pages, the toner itself runs about 0.51 cents per page. Cost per page is the honest way to compare cartridges: a cheaper sticker on a smaller cartridge often costs more across its working life than this high-yield unit does.

How is the 8,000-page rating measured?

Page yields are rated at roughly 5% page coverage — an ordinary text page. Bold graphics, dense reports and heavy letterheads use more toner per sheet, so real-world results can land below 8,000 pages; light text work can stretch further. Treat the rating as a yardstick for comparing cartridges, not a promise for any one office.

Which printers does it fit?

The Phaser 6600, Phaser 6600dn, Phaser 6600n and Phaser 6600ydn, plus the WorkCentre 6605 and WorkCentre 6605dn. The letters after the model number describe networking and paper handling — never the toner. Every one of these machines takes this same 106R02228 in the black slot.

Why is there a black-only listing for a color printer?

Because the four colors live separate lives, and black usually works the hardest: letters, invoices, reports and forms are overwhelmingly black text. When a color machine stops over toner, it is very often the black cartridge that has run out while the colors still have life in them. This listing replaces just the black — you are not forced into buying a full set to fix a black problem.

What stands behind it after the sale?

A one-year warranty and one-year free returns, set out on the shipping and returns page. Orders leave warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, support answers Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and the rest of the range lives on our Xerox toner page.
