Frequently Asked Questions

What do the "D" and "N" in 6600DN add — and what do they leave alone?

D is automatic two-sided printing; N is the network connection. Both are features of the printer's paper path and electronics, and neither touches the consumable: the Phaser 6600DN's black cartridge is this 106R02228, the high-yield black rated at up to 8,000 pages — the same supply as the rest of the 6600 line.

How many cartridges are in this listing?

One. The name's plural "Cartridges" notwithstanding, this listing is a single black cartridge — one compatible 106R02228 at $40.71. Bundle quantities in this family are sold as clearly labelled two, three and five-packs.

Does duplex printing change how much toner a document uses?

Duplexing halves the paper, not the toner per printed side: a ten-page report printed two-sided still lays toner on ten sides — it just does it on five sheets. What the DN's efficiency really does is keep page counts high and paper costs low, which makes the black cartridge's 8,000-page fill the right match for the machine's pace.

What does this cartridge cost per page?

Roughly 0.51 cents — $40.71 spread over up to 8,000 rated pages. That is the high-yield rate for the platform; paired with two-sided printing, it keeps both halves of the per-document cost, toner and paper, on the economical side.

Which printers share this black cartridge?

The whole Phaser 6600 family — the Phaser 6600, Phaser 6600dn, Phaser 6600n and Phaser 6600ydn — and the multifunction branch: the WorkCentre 6605 and WorkCentre 6605dn. Every one of them draws black from the 106R02228.

What warranty and returns cover it?

A one-year warranty and one-year free returns, as described on the shipping and returns page. Orders are dispatched from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, support is available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and the wider range is listed on our Xerox toner page.
