Frequently Asked Questions

What does the "N" in Phaser 6600N mean — and does it change the toner?

The N marks the networked version of the printer: it connects to the office network so a whole team can print to it. It changes how the machine is reached, not what it eats. The 6600N takes the same black cartridge as every other Phaser 6600 — this 106R02228, the high-yield black rated at up to 8,000 pages.

How many cartridges does this listing include?

One. Despite the plural "Cartridges" in the listing's name, this is a single-cartridge listing: one compatible 106R02228 in black at $40.71. Multi-cartridge bundles exist elsewhere in this family and are priced and labeled as packs.

Is the toner really identical across all the 6600 suffixes?

Yes. The Phaser 6600, Phaser 6600n, Phaser 6600dn and Phaser 6600ydn differ in connectivity and paper handling, and the same supply also covers the WorkCentre 6605 and WorkCentre 6605dn. Xerox kept one black part number — 106R02228 — across the entire platform.

What is the cost per page on a shared printer?

At $40.71 for up to 8,000 pages, roughly 0.51 cents per page. On a networked machine the pages add up from many desks at once, which is exactly why the high-yield cartridge matters here: the bigger fill keeps a shared printer's black supply from becoming a weekly chore.

How do I double-check this is the supply my 6600N uses?

Look at the cartridge you are taking out. Its label carries the part number; if it reads 106R02228, this listing is the same supply in compatible form. The part number is a firmer check than any listing title, including ours.

What happens if something goes wrong with it?

The cartridge is covered by a one-year warranty with one-year free returns, detailed on the shipping and returns page. We ship from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, answer support questions Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and list the wider range on our Xerox toner page.

About This Phaser 6600N Black Cartridge

A networked printer serves everyone, so its black cartridge serves everyone too. This listing is the single 106R02228 high-yield black for the Phaser 6600N — one cartridge, $40.71, up to 8,000 pages at about 0.51 cents a page. The N in the printer's name is about the network cable, not the consumable: order by the part number and the whole 6600 family is covered.
