Frequently Asked Questions

How will we know the cyan is about to run out on our C480W?

The printer tells you twice. First comes the low-toner warning on the panel. Then the output itself starts to report: blues lose their depth, skies in photographs wash out, and greens slide towards yellow because green is built from cyan and yellow together. By the time the second sign is obvious, the CLT-C404S is close to finished — the warning, not the fading, is the moment to order.

The warning has appeared — how many pages are realistically left?

Fewer than on a big office machine, because the reserve is a share of capacity and this cartridge's capacity is 1,000 rated pages. In a small office that can mean a week or two of light color work; a single color-heavy job can spend the rest in an afternoon. Treat the warning as "order today" and the question of what is left stops mattering.

Is this the right cyan for the Xpress C480W?

Yes. The CLT-C404S is the cyan this machine takes, and the same cartridge is the listed supply for the Samsung Xpress C430, Xpress C430W, Xpress C480 and Xpress C480FW. It works beside the CLT-K404S black and the magenta and yellow of the 404S family, each cartridge separate, each replaced when its own warning arrives.

One cartridge at a time, or a spare kept in the drawer?

On this platform the drawer wins. The cartridge costs $39.41, keeps sealed in its box until the day it is fitted, and the machine it feeds gives a short warning window. A spare turns an empty cyan from a stopped printer and a delivery wait into a two-minute change — and if the office later runs any of the other three models on this platform, the same spare fits those too.

What does the cyan cost per page on the C480W?

Priced at $39.41 and rated at 1,000 pages, the CLT-C404S works out at about 3.94 cents of cyan per page at the standard 5% coverage. A page with a chart or logo costs close to that, a photograph more, plain correspondence nothing at all — those pages are printed by the black cartridge alone when sent in monochrome.

What warranty covers this compatible cyan?

Every compatible cartridge we sell carries a one-year warranty against defects, and returns are free at any point in the first year, with the full terms on the shipping and returns page. Support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and deliveries are dispatched from our IL, PA, GA and CA warehouses.

About This Xpress C480W Cyan Cartridge (CLT-C404S)

A small cartridge with a short warning window — that is the character of the CLT-C404S in an Xpress C480W, and the reason a spare in the drawer suits this machine so well. Rated at 1,000 pages for $39.41, it also fits the C430, C430W, C480 and C480FW, sits next to the CLT-K404S black in the 404S family, and carries a year's warranty with free returns through the first year. The rest of the range is in our Samsung toner cartridge catalogue.
