Frequently Asked Questions

The SL-M2885FW works our service counter — what does a 3,000-page cartridge mean there?

At a counter turning out roughly a hundred documents a day — receipts, forms, customer letters — the MLT-D116L's 3,000-page rating is about thirty working days, a month between changes. At fifty documents a day it stretches to two months. Counter printing is relentless but predictable, so the cartridge's life is easy to plan: roughly a change a month at full counter pace.

What is the toner cost of a typical day at the counter?

About $1.07 per hundred pages. The cartridge is $32.13 for a rated 3,000 pages, so a fifty-document day consumes around 54 cents of toner and a hundred-document day about $1.07. It is a useful number to have when counter costs are reviewed: toner for this machine is a dollar-a-day item, not a budget concern.

If print suddenly looks washed out mid-cartridge, what should we try before swapping it out?

Three quick things, in order. Take the cartridge out and rock it gently from side to side, then refit it — settled powder is the commonest cause of sudden paleness. Check the printer's density hasn't been knocked down a setting. And print a plain test page to judge the result fairly. If the wash persists after that, the cartridge has a genuine problem, and the year's free returns exist for exactly that case.

Which other Samsung models take this cartridge?

The SL-M2885FW's MLT-D116L also fits the Xpress M2626, Xpress M2676, Xpress M2826, Xpress M2835 DW, Xpress M2875, Xpress M2875 DW, Xpress SL-M2625D, Xpress SL-M2675F, Xpress SL-M2825DW, Xpress SL-M2875FD and SL-M2835DW. A spare kept in the counter drawer can therefore rescue any of those machines too — the whole family is listed in our Samsung toner range.

Is there a smaller cartridge if the SL-M2885FW only prints now and then?

Yes — the MLT-D116S, the family's standard-yield cartridge. It costs less to buy but holds less toner, so its cost per page is higher than this MLT-D116L's 1.07 cents. For a machine printing daily, the high-yield fill in this listing is the cheaper habit by a wide margin; the S makes sense only where printing is occasional and a cartridge would otherwise sit in the machine for a very long time.

What support and cover come with this cartridge?

It is backed for a full year — warranty cover for twelve months and free returns for twelve months — with the details laid out on the shipping and returns page. Orders are dispatched from our IL, PA, GA and CA warehouses, and support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
