Cross-reference: this magenta cartridge belongs to the Type MP C5000 family — Ricoh's own magenta print cartridge for this platform is 841454 (the official color set is cyan 841455, magenta 841454 and yellow 841453). It fits the Ricoh Aficio MP C4000 and MP C5000 — the same machine platform also sold as the Savin C4040 and C5050 and the Lanier LD540C and LD550C.

Frequently Asked Questions

Midway through a long run, our brand colors drift — would fresh magenta help?

It can. On a departmental machine like the MP C4000, an aging magenta cartridge delivers slightly uneven density, so the reds on page 200 do not match page 1. If the drift is one-directional — reds and purples shifting as a run goes on — a fresh magenta usually restores consistency. Drift that appears in every color at once is more likely the machine's calibration, which the printer's own color adjustment routine can address.

How is the 17,000-page rating worked out?

Like all toner ratings, it uses an industry-standard test page at roughly 5% coverage — a page of ordinary text with a small graphic. Your mileage moves with your documents: a month of invoices barely sips magenta, while a run of full-color flyers drinks it. The rating's real value is as a like-for-like comparison between cartridges, and at that job it is reliable.

What is the per-page cost of this magenta?

$88.87 for up to 17,000 pages puts magenta at roughly 0.52 cents per page. On a shared departmental copier that prints color every day, that per-page figure — not the sticker price — is what decides whether a cartridge is good value over the months it will be in the machine.

Is this the magenta for our machine?

This cartridge is built for the Ricoh Aficio MP C4000 and MP C5000 series. Each color is a separate unit on these models; this listing is magenta only, and black for the same machines is a separate cartridge. If your panel message names magenta, this is the correct replacement.

What protection comes with it?

A 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns come standard on our compatible cartridges. If this magenta underperforms — weak color, leaks, or an early failure — the process is set out on our shipping & returns page, and you only ever return the cartridge at fault, not a whole set.

We run two MP C4000s — can one spare cover both?

Yes. Both machines take the same magenta cartridge, so a single sealed spare on the shelf covers whichever printer calls for it first. That is one of the quiet advantages of a standardized fleet: one box of spares instead of a different cartridge for every machine.
