Cross-reference: Black Ricoh 841284 — the Type MP C5000/C5050/LD5500C cartridge family. Ricoh's own color cartridges for this platform are cyan 841455, magenta 841454 and yellow 841453. Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is in this four-cartridge set?

One of each cartridge the machine uses: one black, one cyan, one magenta, and one yellow. It is a complete restock in a single box, putting every color position back to full at the same time. For offices that maintain their MP C4000 or MP C5000 on a planned cycle rather than chasing whichever color happens to run out next, the set keeps all four supplies on one schedule.

Why is black rated at 23,000 pages when the colors are rated at 17,000?

Because the yields are rated per cartridge class, and the classes are simply built differently. The black cartridge for this family is rated at up to 23,000 pages; each color — cyan, magenta, and yellow — is rated at up to 17,000 pages. That is also why there is no single honest page total for the set: the four ratings describe four different cartridges, and how they play out depends on the balance of black-and-white and color work you print.

When is a full set smarter than replacing one cartridge at a time?

When several cartridges are getting low together, or when the machine is due a planned refresh — a set restocks everything in one order and one delivery. If only one color is down and the rest are healthy, replacing just that cartridge is the more sensible spend, and nothing about buying this set now obliges you to buy sets later; individual cartridges remain available on their own.

Which printers does this set work in?

All four cartridges in the set are made for Ricoh Aficio MP C4000 and MP C5000. Confirm the model name on the front of your machine before ordering, since cartridges for other Ricoh series are not interchangeable with these even where the packaging looks alike.

Do the colors and the black run out at the same time?

Rarely. Text-heavy offices usually drain black first despite its higher rating, because most pages are documents. Color-heavy workplaces — presentations, charts, marketing pieces — can pull a color down well before black. The gauges on the machine report each cartridge separately, so you will see which position is actually low rather than guessing from the calendar.

How are warranty and returns handled for a set?

The set carries a 1-year warranty with free returns for a full year. If one cartridge in the box is faulty, it is dealt with on its own — the three working cartridges are not part of the return. Full terms are on our shipping and returns page, and support runs Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
