Frequently Asked Questions

How long will one 15,000-page cartridge actually last on our SP 4100N?

It depends on your monthly volume. At 500 pages a month, one cartridge covers roughly two and a half years of printing. At 1,500 pages a month — a busy small office — expect about ten months. At 3,000 pages a month you are looking at around five months. The 15,000-page rating assumes the standard 5% coverage test page, so dense documents with heavy graphics will finish a cartridge sooner than plain text memos.

Which printers does this cartridge fit?

This is a compatible black toner cartridge built for Ricoh Aficio SP 4100N. It carries the 402809 cartridge code. If your machine is the SP 4100N, this is the cartridge listing you want; if your printer is a different Ricoh model, check the cartridge code on your current cartridge before ordering, because Ricoh's SP-series cartridges are not interchangeable between models.

At $152.96, is this cartridge good value per page?

We will be straight with you: at roughly 1.02 cents per page, this is not the cheapest toner we sell, and we will not pretend otherwise. The SP 4100N is an older workgroup printer and its cartridges have become harder to source, which is reflected in the price. What you are paying for is a cartridge that is actually available, rated for a full 15,000 pages, and backed by a real warranty — for many offices keeping a dependable older printer running beats replacing the machine.

How should I store the cartridge if I am not installing it right away?

Keep it sealed in its bag, lying flat, in a cool dry room away from sunlight and heat sources. Stored that way, a toner cartridge keeps well for a long time. When you install it, give it a gentle side-to-side rock to loosen the toner powder evenly before it goes into the printer.

What warranty and returns come with it?

Every compatible cartridge we sell carries a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns. If the cartridge underperforms or a defect shows up at any point in that year, contact us and we will make it right. The full terms are on our shipping & returns page.

How fast will it ship, and who can I talk to if I have a problem?

Orders ship from one of our four warehouses — Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California — whichever gets it to you fastest. If anything comes up, our support team is available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and can help with install questions, page-yield concerns or warranty claims.
