Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the yellow cartridge seem to run out ahead of the others?

Yellow does quiet, heavy work in color printing: it sits inside greens, oranges, skin tones and most photographic content, so graphics-heavy output draws it down faster than a page count of text would suggest. When the printer flags yellow, this single 42918981 cartridge is the exact replacement — one cartridge, one color, nothing extra in the box.

What is the 42918981 rated to print?

16,000 pages at standard test coverage. That is the color class for this family, and real-world output tracks it closely on mixed office documents; full-bleed marketing pieces and photo work will finish the cartridge sooner.

What does that rating make the cost per page?

At $101.91 for 16,000 rated pages, the arithmetic lands near 0.64 cents a page — the rating assumes standard coverage, so treat it as a planning figure rather than a promise, but it shows how far a high-yield color cartridge stretches compared with standard-yield supplies.

Is this a single cartridge or part of a bundle?

A single yellow cartridge, sold on its own for targeted replacement. If your cyan and magenta are also low, the family's color sets exist separately — but when only yellow is empty, this is the purchase that matches the problem.

Which printers take this yellow cartridge?

The Oki C9650dn, C9650hdn and C9650hn. Its stablemates in the same family are the black 42918984 and the cyan and magenta cartridges 42918983 and 42918982, and the full selection sits in our Okidata range.

What happens if the cartridge disappoints?

It is covered by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns as described in our shipping and returns policy. Your order ships from the nearest of our IL, PA, GA and CA warehouses, and support is staffed Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
