Frequently Asked Questions
What arrives when I order this C9650 set?
One box with four cartridges in it — the black 42918984 plus the cyan, magenta and yellow cartridges 42918983, 42918982 and 42918981 — so a single order refreshes every toner position in the printer. Each cartridge is sealed on its own, and nothing forces you to fit the whole set at once: open only the color that has run dry and leave the rest boxed on the shelf.
Why is the black rated at 18,000 pages when the colors are rated at 16,000?
Because the two yield classes in this family were never identical. The black 42918984 carries an 18,000-page rating while each color is rated at 16,000 pages, both measured at standard test coverage. On plain text work your figures land near those numbers; brochures and presentation pages with heavy color fills pull color toner down noticeably faster.
Do I have to change all four cartridges at the same time?
No. The C9650 tracks each cartridge separately and only asks for the one that is empty. Many owners install the full set together simply to reset the whole machine in one session, but swapping a single color while the others still hold toner works exactly the same way.
Which printers is this set made for?
It is listed for the Oki C9650dn, C9650hdn and C9650hn. If your machine's supply list shows the numbers 42918984, 42918983, 42918982 or 42918981, this set is the four-cartridge bundle those numbers describe.
Is this genuine Oki toner?
No — these are compatible cartridges manufactured to match the originals on fit and yield, and sold under our own Clever Supplies label. The set is $292.17 in our Okidata range, which averages about $73.04 a cartridge across the four.
What cover do I get if one cartridge in the set underperforms?
Each cartridge stands behind a 1-year warranty with 1-year free returns, handled through our shipping and returns policy. Orders leave from the closest of our IL, PA, GA and CA warehouses, and you can reach support Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
