Frequently Asked Questions
Why does this set hold five cartridges when the printer only has four toner positions?
Because one of the four colors is doubled up as a built-in spare. The five cartridges span the black 42918984 and the colors 42918983, 42918982 and 42918981, but the listing does not state which color appears twice — so if the split matters for your workload, message support before ordering and we will confirm the exact makeup rather than leave you guessing.
What does the fifth cartridge cost compared with the four-cartridge set?
The step up is $65.38: this five-cartridge set is $357.55 against $292.17 for the standard four. Spread across the box, the average drops slightly to about $71.51 a cartridge, since the extra unit rides along at less than the set's per-cartridge average.
How are the page ratings divided in this set?
By class, not by a single lumped figure. The black cartridge is rated at 18,000 pages and every color cartridge at 16,000 pages under standard coverage, so the honest way to read the set is 18,000 on the black position and 16,000 on each color position — documents with dense graphics will draw the colors down faster than text-only work.
How should I keep the spare cartridge until I need it?
Leave it in its sealed packaging, stored flat in a cool, dry cupboard away from radiators and direct sunlight. Toner cartridges are shelf-stable while sealed, and keeping the spare unopened means it is ready the moment the printer flags that color as empty.
Which printers does this five-cartridge set fit?
It is listed for the Oki C9650dn, C9650hdn and C9650hn — the same three machines that take the 42918984 black and the 42918983, 42918982 and 42918981 colors individually.
What if the set gives me a problem partway through?
Every cartridge in the box is protected by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns under our shipping and returns policy, and you will find the set among our Okidata cartridges. Parcels dispatch from our IL, PA, GA or CA warehouses, with support on hand Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
About This C9650 Five-Cartridge Set
Built for C9650dn, C9650hdn and C9650hn owners who would rather hold a spare than reorder mid-job, this set packs five cartridges across the family's four numbers — black 42918984 rated at 18,000 pages and colors 42918983, 42918982 and 42918981 rated at 16,000 pages each — at $357.55. The listing does not pin down which color is doubled, and our support team can confirm the split before you buy.
