Frequently Asked Questions

How can I tell yellow is running low when prints still look almost normal?

Yellow (46507501) fades quietly because it is the lightest color in the set. The giveaway is in the details: greens lose their punch, highlights go flat, and skin tones start leaning pink. If the printer reports yellow low and your greens look dull, believe the printer — that is this cartridge asking to be changed.

Why is yellow the priciest of the three color singles?

At $46.49 it does sit above cyan ($37.35) and magenta ($40.87) in this family, despite all three sharing a 6,000-page rating. Sibling pricing simply is not uniform here, and rather than dress that up, we would point out the per-page figure still works out to about 0.77 cents at rated yield.

Does a low yellow cartridge affect black-and-white printing?

Text documents driven purely by the black cartridge are unaffected. It is color output that suffers — and many "mostly black" pages still lay down some yellow in shading and images, which is why the change can creep up on an office that rarely thinks of itself as printing in color.

Can I replace yellow on its own, mid-cycle?

Yes. The 46507501 installs independently of 46507504 black, 46507503 cyan and 46507502 magenta. Swap it when it fades, leave the others running, and the printer resumes tracking each color on its own schedule.

How long will one of these last in a typical office?

The rating is 6,000 pages at standard coverage. A C612dn doing light color duty might stretch one yellow cartridge across many months; a studio printing graphics daily will move through it considerably faster. The rating is a measuring stick, not a promise tied to your exact documents.

What backing comes with this compatible cartridge?

A one-year warranty together with one-year free returns — full terms on our shipping and returns page. We ship from Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California warehouses, and support is on hand Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
