Individual cartridges exist for exactly this moment: one color is out, the rest are fine, and you should only have to buy the one you need. This is the cyan of the Moderate tier — the T124220-S, rated up to 175 pages (ISO/IEC 24711) in DURABrite Ultra pigment ink, with a new compatible chip, for the eleven printers on the 124 roster: Stylus NX125, NX127, NX130, NX230, NX330, NX420, NX430 and WorkForce 320, 323, 325, 435.
All three 124 colors carry the same rating — cyan (T124220-S), magenta (T124320-S) and yellow (T124420-S) at about 175 pages each, under the black's 190 — so no color is the "short" one in this tier. Because the ink is pigment rather than dye, this cyan prints with the DURABrite character the platform is known for: instant-dry, water-resistant, and stable in documents and color graphics alike.
Fit honesty, because this platform punishes assumptions: eight of the eleven models also accept the 125 Standard tier, but the NX330, NX430 and WorkForce 435 do not — and the NX530, NX625 and WorkForce 520 accept no 124 cartridge at all. How many pages does it print?
Up to 175 pages (ISO/IEC 24711) — the same rating as the 124 magenta and yellow. Actual yield depends on how much cyan your pages carry.
My colors are fading on one side. Is it this cartridge?
Fading or banding in one color usually means that color's nozzles need a head cleaning from the printer's maintenance menu — the printhead lives in the printer, not in the cartridge. Run a cleaning cycle before replacing a cartridge that still shows ink.
Does this cartridge contain pigment or dye ink?
Pigment (DURABrite Ultra). All four colors of the 124/125 platform are pigment — documents dry instantly and resist water and highlighter smearing.
Can I replace just the cyan?
Yes — that is the point of this platform's individual cartridges. The printer works with cartridges at different levels and different tiers (on models that accept both tiers); replace the empty color only.
Will it work in a Stylus NX625?
No. The NX625 is a 125/127-branch model and takes no 124 cartridge. Neither do the NX530 or the WorkForce 520. Check the model list on this page against your printer's badge.
What chip does it carry?
A new compatible chip. This cartridge carries a new compatible chip; if your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur — reseat the cartridge first, and if the error persists, our lifetime warranty covers you.
Why does the printer's ink monitor look wrong after installing it?
Epson's own manuals warn that ink-level displays may not read correctly with non-genuine cartridges. Judge by print quality and the low-ink alert together, not the gauge alone.
Is the color yield a combined "composite" number?
No. Epson rates each 124 color individually at about 175 pages (ISO/IEC 24711) — the figure on this page is for this cyan cartridge alone, not a composite of the three colors.
How should I store a spare?
Sealed in its box, upright, room temperature, away from sunlight. Once opened, Epson's platform guidance is to use a cartridge within about six months.
