Frequently Asked Questions

Five cartridges for a four-slot printer — what is the extra one for?

It is a built-in spare, and deliberately the cheapest way to own one. This 5-pack is $53.72 against $46.23 for the four-cartridge set of the same family — a difference of $7.49 for the fifth cartridge, well under the roughly $11.56 per-cartridge cost inside the 4-pack. Instead of discovering an empty slot and waiting on a delivery, the replacement is already on the shelf and the change takes two minutes.

What are the ratings across the cartridges in this pack?

The family's ratings carry over: the black 331-0778 is rated at up to 2,000 pages, and the colors — cyan 331-0777, magenta 331-0780, yellow 331-0779 — at up to 1,400 pages each. The pack gives you the complete set for the machine plus the extra cartridge; the per-cartridge ratings are unchanged from the 4-pack.

How does the per-cartridge cost compare with the 4-pack?

Divide it out: $53.72 across five cartridges is about $10.74 each, against about $11.56 each in the $46.23 four-pack. The saving is modest per cartridge but real, and the bigger economy is practical — one order covers the machine's full refresh plus its most likely next replacement.

How should we store the extra cartridge?

Sealed, in its box, flat in a cool dry cupboard — the same as any spare. Mark the purchase month on the box and install oldest stock first when the time comes. A sealed compatible cartridge stores patiently, so there is no race against a clock; it simply waits until the machine asks for it.

Does the extra cartridge carry the same cover as the other four?

Yes — every cartridge in the pack, fifth included, carries our 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, and claims are handled per cartridge. If any single one of the five misbehaves, we resolve that cartridge alone. Full terms are on our shipping and returns page, and support runs Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

Who is a 5-pack the wrong choice for?

Anyone retiring the printer soon, or printing so little that a 4-pack already lasts them years. For everyone else keeping a machine from this family in regular service, a fifth cartridge at $7.49 over the set price is about the cheapest spare they will ever buy for it.
