Frequently Asked Questions

The D530 prints, copies and scans — which of those actually uses this cartridge?

Printing and copying do; scanning does not. A scan sends the page to your computer without touching toner at all, so a D530 used heavily as a scanner can make a cartridge last a surprisingly long time. Copies count exactly like prints — every copied page is a printed page — so the real drain on this 2,100-page rating is your combined print-plus-copy volume, not the number of documents that pass through the glass.

For one person at one desk, how long does 2,100 pages actually stretch?

A personal machine like the D530 usually lives a gentle life: a few letters, forms and copies a day. At 75 pages a month, this cartridge is a two-year supply; at 200 a month it still runs past ten months. That is the natural fit for a single $26.19 cartridge — at personal volumes you are paying roughly 1.25 cents a page for the convenience of never stocking spares, and the cartridge will likely be changed for age on the calendar before it is changed for workload.

Is this the right cartridge for my imageCLASS D530?

Yes — the imageCLASS D530 takes the Canon 128, and this is that cartridge in black, rated for 2,100 pages. The label on the cartridge you pull out will read 128, which is the only confirmation you need. The swap is tool-free: open the top, lift the old cartridge out by its handle, drop this one in until it seats, and close. The D530 asks for nothing else — no reset procedure, no menu settings.

My copies come out lighter than prints from the computer — is the cartridge at fault?

Usually the glass, not the cartridge. Prints come straight from your file, while copies depend on a clean scan surface and the original being flat and legible. Wipe the scanner glass with a soft, slightly damp cloth and copy a freshly printed page as a test: if the copy matches the print, the cartridge was never the problem. If prints and copies are both pale, remove the cartridge, rock it gently side to side to redistribute the toner, and test again before calling it empty.

What happens if this cartridge fails partway through its life?

It is covered by a 1-year warranty, and returns stay free for 1 year too, so a cartridge that streaks, leaks or gives up early is replaced or refunded rather than argued about. You will find the full terms on our shipping & returns page, and if you would rather describe the problem first, our team is available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

How fast will a replacement get to a home office?

We ship from four US warehouses — Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California — and your cartridge leaves from the closest one, so a home office is not waiting on a cross-country or overseas trip. Ordering a single cartridge ahead of the true end of the current one is painless, since a sealed cartridge stores flat in a drawer until the day the prints actually turn faint.
