Frequently Asked Questions

Our company red is printing orange on the MF8280CW — where do we look first?

At the magenta. Red is built mostly from magenta plus yellow, so when the Canon 131 magenta (131M) fades, reds slide towards orange and then brown, while blues and greens on the same page can still look acceptable. If your logo has lost its red but the rest of the page holds up, a fresh 131M is the first fix to try.

Faces in our prints look sunburned — same problem?

Usually, yes. Skin tones lean heavily on magenta; too little of it and faces go pale and greenish, too uneven a supply and they flush patchy and hot-looking. On the MF8280CW, magenta trouble shows in people before it shows in charts, which makes a photo page the best test print when you suspect the 131M is on its way out.

What is the rated yield of this cartridge?

The Canon 131 magenta is rated at 1,500 pages, matching the cyan (131C) and yellow (131Y) in the same family; the black 131BK carries the higher rating at 2,400 pages. At $34.70 for a single, you replace the magenta only when the magenta is actually done — not on a schedule set by the other colours.

Is this cartridge made by Canon?

No. It is a compatible Canon 131 magenta cartridge built to the 131M specification and sold under our own brand. It fits the MF8280CW the same way the original cartridge does; the difference is the name on the box and the $34.70 price.

How fast can we get one if a deadline is looming?

Stock ships from whichever of our four warehouses — Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California — is closest to you, so most orders land within a few business days. Questions along the way are handled by our support team, Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

What protection comes with it?

A 1-year warranty covers the cartridge, and returns are free within the first year if it fails to perform. The full wording is on our shipping and returns page.
