Frequently Asked Questions

Honest math first: is $27.70 a fair price for a 2,400-page cartridge?

It works out to roughly 1.15 cents per page, and we will not pretend that is bargain territory — the Canon 137 is a small cartridge, and small cartridges always cost more per page than big ones. What the single pack does give you is the lowest upfront spend in this family and zero commitment: one cartridge, one machine, no money sitting on a shelf. If you print lightly or this is your first compatible 137, the single is the sensible way in. If you already know the cartridge works for you, the multi-packs on this page cut the per-page cost sharply, and that is the honest trade-off.

How long does 2,400 pages actually last a light user?

At 100 pages a month — a few invoices, letters and forms a week — one cartridge covers about two years. At 200 pages a month it is roughly a year. The 2,400-page rating assumes standard documents at about 5% page coverage, so a month heavy on full-page graphics or dense reports will pull the real number down. For a home office or a single-desk printer that prints in bursts rather than all day, this single cartridge is usually a once-a-year purchase, not a recurring errand.

Why does the printer sometimes warn about low toner long before pages fade?

The warning is an estimate based on coverage counters, not a measurement of what is physically left. When it appears, take the cartridge out, rock it gently side to side a few times to redistribute the toner, and put it back — most users get a good stretch of clean pages after that. Treat genuinely faded or streaky output, not the warning light, as the real signal that the cartridge is finished.

Which printers does this cartridge work in?

It is built for Canon imageCLASS printers that use the Canon 137 cartridge — the Canon imageCLASS machines in the MF, LBP and D series designed around the 137 cartridge. If your current cartridge is marked 137, this is the matching compatible replacement.

What if a print defect shows up — a cartridge problem or a printer problem?

A defect that repeats in the same spot down every page usually points to the cartridge; random light prints across different documents more often mean the cartridge is simply near empty. Either way, you are not stuck with a bad unit: every Clever Supplies compatible cartridge is covered by a 1-year warranty, and our support team answers Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, if you want help narrowing it down before you decide.

What protection do I get if this cartridge disappoints me?

Two layers, both for a full year: a 1-year warranty on the cartridge itself and 1-year free returns if it does not perform. The full terms live on our shipping & returns page. Orders ship from whichever of our warehouses — Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California — gets it to you fastest.
