Frequently Asked Questions

Why replace all three colors together instead of one at a time?

Color balance. When one cartridge is brand new and its neighbors are nearly empty, the machine is constantly compensating, and prints drift — a fresh cyan beside a tired magenta gives you blues that are right and reds that are not. Replacing the cyan, magenta and yellow as a matched set resets all three to the same starting line, so the calibration holds and colors stay consistent for the whole cycle. It is the difference between chasing one faded color every few weeks and fixing the color side of the printer in a single visit.

What exactly is inside this Canon 118 3-color set?

Three cartridges, one of each color: cyan (part number 2661B001AA), magenta (2660B001AA) and yellow (2659B001AA), each rated at 2,900 pages. Black is not in this set — the Canon 118 black is a separate cartridge with its own 3,400-page rating, and it is usually on a different replacement rhythm from the colors. If your black is still printing strong, this set is the complete color refresh on its own.

What does the set save against buying the three colors separately?

The three color singles cost $43.30 each, which totals $129.90. This set is $92.93, so you save $36.97 and each cartridge inside the set effectively costs $30.98 instead of $43.30. That brings the cost of a color page down from about 1.49 cents to roughly 1.07 cents at standard coverage. There is no catch in the arithmetic — the set exists because one box, one shipment and one order is cheaper for us to fulfill than three separate ones.

Which printers does this Canon 118 color set fit?

The imageCLASS color machines on the Canon 118 platform, including the ImageClass MF8350CDN, MF8380, MF8380CDW, MF8580, MF8580CDW and MF8330CDN multifunction models and the LBP7200CDN and LBP7660CDN printers. If your machine's supply list names the Canon 118 in cyan, magenta and yellow — part numbers 2661B001AA, 2660B001AA and 2659B001AA — this set covers all three of its color slots in one box.

Our black cartridge is fine — can we install just the colors?

Yes. The four cartridges in these machines live independent lives, and nothing about this set requires touching the black. Install the three colors, run the machine's color calibration so the fresh set is balanced, and leave the black to finish its own cycle. When the black eventually fades, it is replaced on its own — the colors will not need to be disturbed for it.

What warranty and returns cover a set like this?

Each cartridge in the set carries the same cover as if you had bought it alone: a 1-year warranty against defects and 1-year free returns if it does not perform as it should. If one cartridge of the three misbehaves, that cartridge is the one that gets sorted — you are not returning a whole set over a single fault. Full terms are on our shipping and returns page, and support answers Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
