Cyan is where faded sky photos and washed-out charts start, and this compatible LC103C is the high-yield answer: up to 600 pages under ISO/IEC 24711, double the standard LC101C's 300 pages, in the same slot. The LC103C is the tier every printer in this family accepts, from the compact DCP-J152W to the ledger-size MFC-J6920DW.

This cartridge serves all 17 printers on the official LC103 list — DCP-J152W, MFC-J245, MFC-J285DW, MFC-J4310DW, MFC-J4410DW, MFC-J450DW, MFC-J4510DW, MFC-J4610DW, MFC-J470DW, MFC-J4710DW, MFC-J475DW, MFC-J650DW, MFC-J6520DW, MFC-J6720DW, MFC-J6920DW, MFC-J870DW and MFC-J875DW. Nine of them also accept the standard LC101 tier; the other eight start at LC103 and add the super-high options. Because the slots are individual, a cyan change never forces the other colors out with it.

Every cartridge in this family carries a new compatible chip. Brother's own help pages for this platform describe the small green chip on top of the genuine cartridge and the "Cannot Detect" message that appears when a chip is not read — so handle the cartridge by its housing, never touch the green chip contact, and seat it firmly until it clicks. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur; reseating the cartridge and restarting the printer clears most of them, and we do not promise recognition on every firmware version. Covered by our lifetime warranty, with free returns for the first year.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How many pages does the LC103C print?

Up to 600 pages, rated under ISO/IEC 24711 — Brother's published figure for the LC103C. That is twice the 300 pages of the standard-yield LC101 equivalent, which is why LC103 is the default refill tier for all 17 printers in this family.

Will my printer recognize this compatible cartridge?

This cartridge carries a new compatible chip. If your printer's firmware has been updated, recognition issues can occasionally occur — remove the cartridge, check that the green chip contact is clean and untouched, reseat it firmly, and restart the printer. Brother's own "Cannot Detect" guidance for this family starts from the same chip check. We do not claim guaranteed recognition on every firmware version; if a cartridge still will not register, the lifetime warranty covers it.

    LC101 or LC103 — which should I buy?

Both fit the nine smaller models (DCP-J152W, MFC-J245, MFC-J285DW, MFC-J450DW, MFC-J470DW, MFC-J475DW, MFC-J650DW, MFC-J870DW, MFC-J875DW), and LC103 doubles the yield — 600 pages against 300 — so it is the better value per page. The eight larger models take LC103 and the super-high tiers only; LC101 does not fit them at all. We do not sell an LC101 single: there is no separate LC101 compatible single in our source range, so LC103 is the single we offer for every model in the family.

My printer only needs cyan — can I change just this one?

Yes. These are individual cartridges with separate slots; replace only the color the printer calls for and leave the others in place.

Is this a genuine Brother cartridge?

No — it is a Clever Supplies compatible cartridge built to the LC103C specification, with a new compatible chip, labeled compatible on the box and on this page. It is not manufactured by Brother.

How do I install it without chip problems?

Hold the cartridge by its housing and keep fingers off the small green chip on top — Brother's own guidance for this family treats that chip as the part the printer reads. Push the cartridge in until it clicks, then run a nozzle check if the printer has sat idle.

Can I mix LC103 with LC105 colors or an LC107/LC109 black?

Yes, on the models that accept those tiers — each slot is independent. The eight larger models (MFC-J4310DW, J4410DW, J4510DW, J4610DW, J4710DW, J6520DW, J6720DW, J6920DW) accept LC105 colors; the black super-high code splits by model — LC107BK for the first five, LC109BK for the last three — and the two blacks are not interchangeable.

Why do some listings promise far more than 600 pages for LC103?

Because a seller's own fill claim is not an OEM rating. Brother's published ISO/IEC 24711 figure for this cartridge is 600 pages, and that is the only figure we print.

What warranty and returns does it carry?

A lifetime warranty — a cartridge that fails to perform is replaced — and free returns within the first year.

How should I store a spare cartridge?

Sealed, upright, out of direct sunlight, and opened only when you are ready to install it. Keep the protective cap on until the cartridge goes into the printer.

Is there an LC105 black to match the LC105 colors?

No — Brother never made an LC105BK. In the super-high tier the colors are LC105 and the black is LC107BK (five models) or LC109BK (three models), depending on your printer. Any listing selling an 'LC105 black' is mislabeled.

Which printers does this cartridge fit?

    All 17 models in the LC103 list: DCP-J152W, MFC-J245, MFC-J285DW, MFC-J4310DW, MFC-J4410DW, MFC-J450DW, MFC-J4510DW, MFC-J4610DW, MFC-J470DW, MFC-J4710DW, MFC-J475DW, MFC-J650DW, MFC-J6520DW, MFC-J6720DW, MFC-J6920DW, MFC-J870DW and MFC-J875DW.
