MFC-J805DW

The Brother MFC-J805DW is the compact entry model of the small platform. It runs the small INKvestment cartridge platform: LC3033 Super High Yield (black LC3033BK up to 3,000 pages; cyan, magenta and yellow up to 1,500 pages each) and LC3035 Ultra High Yield (6,000 black / 5,000 per color), all rated in accordance with ISO/IEC 24711. The Clever Supplies compatible cartridges below — LC3033 singles and the LC3035 set and 9-pack — are chipped for this printer and carry a lifetime warranty.

MFC-J805DW Ink — Small Platform, Two Tiers, No Cross-Fit With the A3 Machines
Five printers — that is the whole of Brother's official list for the LC3033/LC3035 family, and the compact MFC-J805DW is on it. What you choose between is not fit but fill: both tiers slide into the same slots and mix freely by position. LC3033 Super High Yield is the standard refill — LC3033BK up to 3,000 pages, LC3033C, LC3033M and LC3033Y up to 1,500 pages each. LC3035 Ultra High Yield (6,000 black / 5,000 per color) is the long-run option for document-heavy weeks. All yields are rated in accordance with ISO/IEC 24711: pick LC3033 for the regular refill, LC3035 when you want the longest stretch between changes.
The MFC-J805DW is the compact entry model of the small platform. The warning that matters on this platform is the platform itself: the large A3 INKvestment printers (HL-J6000DW, MFC-J5845DW, MFC-J6545DW and their siblings) post identical yield figures — 3,000/1,500 and 6,000/5,000 — but take LC3037/LC3039 cartridges with different bodies. Nothing from that platform installs in the MFC-J805DW, and nothing on this page installs in those machines. Similar-looking LC3017/LC3019 and LC3029 cartridges do not fit either.
Which LC3033/LC3035 should you buy?
- Standard refill: LC3033 singles — black $19.49, cyan, magenta and yellow $14.99 each (3,000 black / 1,500 per color).
- Longest run: the LC3035 Set of 4 ($67.44) or the Set of 9 ($134.87, 3 black + 2 of each color), at 6,000 black / 5,000 per color.
Chip, ink and everyday use
Chip honesty first, because mixed-use owners ask about it most: every cartridge listed here is an individual INKvestment cartridge with a new compatible chip, and Brother’s own “Cannot Detect Ink Volume” guidance for this generation states that with non-genuine ink the machine may or may not detect the cartridge — we print that warning rather than promise recognition. Document runs and photo pages alike sit under the same terms: all Clever Supplies cartridges for this printer carry a lifetime warranty with 1-year free returns. And because the two tiers share one slot design, an LC3033 spare and an LC3035 set coexist on the same shelf for this printer.
