Compatible Brother LC3029 Super High Yield INKvestment Tank ink cartridges — black (LC3029BK) rated up to 3,000 pages and cyan (LC3029C), magenta (LC3029M) and yellow (LC3029Y) rated up to 1,500 pages each (ISO/IEC 24711), plus the Set of 4 and the bulk Set of 9. They fit ONLY the six INKvestment Tank printers: MFC-J5830DW, MFC-J5830DW XL, MFC-J5930DW, MFC-J6535DW, MFC-J6535DW XL and MFC-J6935DW. They do not fit standard-cassette printers, and LC3019 is not a substitute.

LC3029 Ink — Super High Yield for INKvestment Tank Printers Only
LC3029 is the INKvestment Tank cartridge: LC3029BK up to 3,000 pages, LC3029C, LC3029M and LC3029Y up to 1,500 pages each (ISO/IEC 24711), for MFC-J5830DW, MFC-J5830DW XL, MFC-J5930DW, MFC-J6535DW, MFC-J6535DW XL and MFC-J6935DW — and for no other printers in this group. The yield numbers match LC3019 exactly, but the cartridges are physically different: LC3019 is a standard-cassette cartridge and does not fit Tank printers, and LC3029 does not fit the standard-cassette printers.
Two honest expectations belong on this page. First, Brother’s support text says “Cannot Detect Ink Volume” typically only appears with generic, third-party or refilled cartridges, so a compatible LC3029 may show that message while the machine keeps working. Second, the firmware note: on firmware versions A–K an “Update failed — install genuine ink cartridge” message can appear and the firmware should be updated while that message is shown; on version L and above the message stays on screen until the cartridge is empty, but the machine keeps working.
