LC3011 Ink — Standard Yield for the Four Work Smart Printers
LC3011 is the Standard Yield tier of a two-tier Work Smart family. Its four cartridges — LC3011BK, LC3011C, LC3011M and LC3011Y — are rated up to 200 pages each (ISO/IEC 24711), and they fit MFC-J491DW, MFC-J497DW, MFC-J690DW and MFC-J895DW. The High Yield tier, LC3013, fits exactly the same four printers at 400 pages per cartridge, so moving up a tier never means changing printers — and the two tiers can be mixed color by color in one machine.
This tier is sold as singles only on this shelf: there is no LC3011 set in the ladder this range is priced from, and the set architecture belongs to the LC3013 tier. Light, occasional printing is what Standard Yield is built for; steady printing belongs on the High tier, which halves the number of cartridge changes. One code to skip: “LC30134PKS”, seen on some seller pages, is not a verified Brother code — it does not appear in Brother’s own comparison tables, and it is not used here.
Which LC3011 should you buy?
- One color ran out: replace just that color — black, cyan, magenta and yellow singles are $9.74 each.
- Printing every week: step up to the LC3013 High Yield singles at $10.49 each — same printers, same slots, double the fill at 400 pages per cartridge.
- Full refresh or bulk: sets live on the High tier — the Set of 4 ($35.94, one of each color) and the Set of 9 ($72.77, 3 black + 2 of each color).
Chip, ink and everyday use
Store the spare correctly and the LC3011 gives little trouble: keep each cartridge sealed until the day it goes in, and seat it firmly so the chip makes clean contact. Every cartridge here carries a new compatible chip, but plan for one message — with a compatible cartridge the printer may show “Cannot Detect Ink Volume.” Brother's support text says the machine keeps working with that message and only a new genuine cartridge clears it, so the ink-level gauge may not read. All LC3011 cartridges carry a lifetime warranty with 1-year free returns.
