Brother LC105 Ink — Super-High Colors, No Black
Brother split the super-high tier in this family: the colors carry the LC105 code and the black carries a model-group code. MFC-J4310DW, J4410DW, J4510DW, J4610DW and J4710DW pair LC105 colors with the LC107BK black (1,200 pages); MFC-J6520DW, J6720DW and J6920DW pair them with the LC109BK black (2,400 pages, genuine only in our source range). Any listing selling an "LC105 black" is mislabeled. The nine smaller family models do not accept this tier at all.
LC105 is the super-high-yield color tier of this family — cyan, magenta and yellow cartridges rated up to 1,200 pages each (ISO/IEC 24711) for the eight larger printers. There is no LC105 black: the black of this tier is the LC107BK or LC109BK, depending on your model. Any listing selling an 'LC105 black' is mislabeled: on this shelf the colors are LC105, and the black beside them is the LC107BK single or the LC109BK original. At $11.99 for up to 1,200 pages, each LC105 color works out at about a cent a page. The eight printers split into a mid-size group of five and a ledger group of three, and this tier serves both.

LC105 is a color-only tier, and its care is color by color. Each cyan, magenta and yellow cartridge carries a new chip in its slot for the eight larger printers, so a recognition problem in one color never means changing the other two. Grip the housing, keep the small green contacts clean, and if a firmware update interrupts recognition, reseat that color firmly and restart the printer.
