    Frequently Asked Questions

Our blues have started printing violet, and the greens look olive. Why does that point at the cyan cartridge?

Because cyan is the shared ingredient in both of those mixes, and a shared ingredient failing bends every color built on it. This machine has no blue toner and no green toner: blue is mixed from cyan laid over magenta, and green from cyan laid over yellow. Let the cyan side of either recipe weaken and the surviving partner takes over — blue tips toward magenta and comes off the page violet, while green tips toward yellow and comes off olive. Reds and warm tones, which are built from magenta and yellow alone, can look perfectly normal at the same time, which is why the fault is so often blamed on the file or the screen. The check that settles it lives in the machine itself: run the built-in color test pattern and look at the cyan patch. If it prints washed-out or uneven while the other three hold solid, the 006R01516 in the cyan bay is running dry, whatever the page count says.

We print mostly documents, so why is cyan the first color to run low?

Because "mostly documents" in a modern office still means a great deal of blue. Blue is the default color of corporate life — the heading styles in a Word template, the hyperlink in every printed email and web page, the bars in the default chart palette, the logo on the letterhead. Each of those elements draws directly on the cyan cartridge. Color copies off the glass add a quieter drain: grays and neutral backgrounds in a scanned page are not printed with black alone but built from a balance of the three colors, cyan included, and photographic images lean heavily on cyan for skies, water and shadow detail. The 006R01516 is rated at 15,000 pages, but that figure is measured at the standard 5% page coverage; a graphics-bearing office page can carry several times that coverage in the cyan channel alone. Cyan emptying first on a document machine is not an anomaly — it is arithmetic.

There are pale bands running down the page, but only inside blue and green areas. Is that the cartridge or the machine?

Banding that confines itself to one color's territory is strong evidence, and it points to that color's supply rather than to the shared parts of the machine. A fault in a component every color passes through would mark the whole page; a band that appears only where cyan is laid down sits in the cyan path. Work through it in order: slide the cartridge out and back in to reseat it, then print the test pattern again. If the banding is still there, the most economical diagnosis available is a fresh 006R01516 — if the bands vanish, the old cartridge was the fault, and if identical banding persists through a known-good cartridge, you have narrowed the problem to the machine itself and can hand a technician a much shorter story. Either way the test cartridge is not money at risk: it is covered by the warranty and returns terms set out below.

Which WorkCentre models does the 006R01516 fit?

Fourteen models, spanning both generations of Xerox's departmental color range. On the current ConnectKey generation it serves the WorkCentre 7830 and WorkCentre 7830i, the WorkCentre 7835 and WorkCentre 7835i, the WorkCentre 7845 and WorkCentre 7845i, the WorkCentre 7855 and WorkCentre 7855i, and the range-topping WorkCentre 7970. The generation before it takes the same cartridge: the WorkCentre 7525, WorkCentre 7530, WorkCentre 7535, WorkCentre 7545 and WorkCentre 7556. The "i" suffix marks the ConnectKey controller version of a model rather than a different machine, so it changes nothing about the supply it takes. To confirm before you order, pull the cartridge from the cyan bay and read the code printed on it — 006R01516 is the one this listing replaces.

What does the cyan position cost per page?

One division gives you the figure: $58.63 for a cartridge rated at 15,000 pages works out to roughly 0.39 cents per rated page for cyan. It is a one-off purchase with nothing attached — no per-click billing, no service agreement, no minimum volume to maintain. For an office weighing a managed-print quote, pricing each color position separately makes the comparison honest, and cyan — usually the hardest-working of the four — still lands at well under half a cent a page.

What cover comes with this cartridge, and how does getting one work?

Each 006R01516 is sold with a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, so a cartridge that arrives faulty or fails early in its life goes back for a replacement or a refund rather than becoming your problem. Orders are dispatched from the closest of our four warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California, and the complete delivery and returns terms are published on our shipping & returns page. Questions before or after ordering are answered by our support team Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and the rest of the range for this platform is gathered in the store's Xerox section.

About This Xerox 006R01516 Cyan Toner Cartridge

A single compatible cyan toner cartridge, part number 006R01516, rated at 15,000 pages and priced at $58.63 — about 0.39 cents per rated page. Cyan carries a double load in everything this platform prints: it is half of every blue and half of every green the machine produces, which is why its condition shows up first in skies, charts and corporate blues, and why it so often empties ahead of its neighbours. One cartridge design covers both generations of the departmental range — the WorkCentre 7525, 7530, 7535, 7545 and 7556, plus the ConnectKey-era 7830, 7835, 7845, 7855 and 7970 families including their "i" variants — so a mixed fleet needs only one cyan on the shelf. It is backed by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns.

This does in fact also fit the Xerox WorkCentre 7525 even though that specific model is not listed in the product description. Prints well. I will update this review in 1500 pages

The best KNOCK OFF printing brand affordable with great print quality So much cheaper than the official Xerox toners I recommend trying one of these before buying an official one.
