Frequently Asked Questions

Honestly — who should NOT buy this MB491 Plus 5-pack?

Anyone who prints only a few dozen pages a month. Each 44574701 cartridge is rated at up to 4,000 pages, so this pack holds about 20,000 pages; at very low volume the last cartridges could sit on a shelf for years, and a single cartridge at $28.45 would serve you better. The pack rewards steady, ongoing use of the MB491 Plus — that is who the saving is built for.

What is the saving, in plain numbers?

Five single cartridges at $28.45 come to $142.25. This pack is $68.28, so you save $73.97 and pay about $13.66 per cartridge instead. Across the pack's rated output that is roughly 0.34 cents per page, or about $3.41 per 1,000 pages.

Does buying in bulk change what is inside each cartridge?

No. The five cartridges in this box are the same 44574701 units sold individually, each rated at up to 4,000 pages. The discount comes from buying five at once, not from a different or reduced cartridge.

How does the per-page cost behave over the life of the pack?

It stays flat, and that is the quiet advantage. Because all five cartridges are bought at the pack price, your twentieth thousand pages costs the same roughly 0.34 cents per page as your first — there is no drifting back up to single-cartridge pricing halfway through the year when a reorder lands at the wrong moment.

What if our printing volume drops and we are left holding spares?

Sealed cartridges keep well in a cool, dry cupboard, so a slowdown is not an emergency — the stock simply waits. And every cartridge carries a 1-year warranty with 1-year free returns on our compatible range, set out on the shipping & returns page, if a unit itself turns out to be faulty.

Can I talk to someone before committing to five?

Of course. Support runs Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and orders ship from our warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California. You can also compare this pack against the single cartridge and the rest of the Okidata catalog before deciding which quantity honestly fits your MB491 Plus.
