Frequently Asked Questions

Is one cartridge at a time the right way to buy for an MB491 Plus?

For most MB491 Plus owners, yes. A single 44574701 is rated at 4,000 pages and costs $28.45, so a light-to-moderate office — a few hundred pages a month — is looking at one purchase lasting the better part of a year, with no money tied up in shelf stock. If your machine runs thousands of pages a month, singles still work; you will just reorder more often, and our warehouse network keeps that to a few business days.

What is the running cost on an MB491 Plus with this cartridge?

About 0.71 cents per page: $28.45 spread over the 4,000-page rating, or roughly $7.11 per thousand pages. That assumes standard text coverage; graphics-heavy printing uses toner faster and raises the effective cost slightly.

Why is the supply identified by the number 44574701?

Because that is Oki's part number for this cartridge, printed on the cartridge itself. It identifies the supply precisely across the whole printer family, which is more dependable than going by a model name alone.

Is this an OEM cartridge?

No. It is a compatible 44574701 under our Clever Supplies brand, manufactured to the same specification and rated for the same 4,000 pages — at $28.45 rather than the original-brand price.

What if the cartridge fails before it is empty?

Every cartridge is covered by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, with the terms on our shipping and returns page. Support is on hand Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

Where does the order ship from?

Whichever of our warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California is nearest to you and has the 44574701 in stock. You can browse the rest of this family's supplies on our Okidata toner page.
