Frequently Asked Questions

How many of these cartridges will our MB491+LP go through in a year?

Start with your monthly volume. The 44574701 is rated at 4,000 pages, so an MB491+LP printing 500 pages a month uses about 6,000 pages a year — one and a half cartridges, which in practice means buying two and carrying a small buffer. At $28.45 each, that is roughly $57 a year in toner. Double the volume to 1,000 pages a month and you are at three cartridges and about $85 a year.

What does that work out to per page?

About 0.71 cents per page at the $28.45 price — roughly $7.11 per thousand pages. That figure assumes standard text coverage; a document mix heavy on graphics will nudge the real cost up a little.

Is the 44574701 the cartridge number I should reorder by?

Yes. 44574701 is Oki's part number for this black cartridge, and it is printed on the cartridge itself. Reordering by that number gets you the same supply every time, regardless of which model name is on the printer's front panel.

Is this an original Oki cartridge?

No, it is a compatible cartridge made to the 44574701 specification and sold under the Clever Supplies brand. Same rated yield of 4,000 pages; the saving is in the $28.45 price versus the original-brand cost.

What if a cartridge disappoints mid-year?

Every one is covered by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, with the policy laid out on our shipping and returns page. Support answers Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

How fast can we get a cartridge when the shelf is empty?

Orders ship from the closest stocked warehouse among Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California, and most arrive within a few business days. The broader range for this family is on our Okidata toner page.
