Frequently Asked Questions

Will prints stay dark and even from the first page to the last on our MB491 MFP?

That is the expectation for a healthy 44574701: solid, consistent black through its working life, with lightening only as it genuinely approaches empty. If output from your MB491 MFP fades in the middle of a cartridge's life, or comes out uneven side to side, that is not normal wear — it is the kind of fault the warranty exists for, and we would rather hear about it than have you work around it.

How many pages should we get before that end-of-life fading starts?

The cartridge is rated at 4,000 pages for $28.45 — about 0.71 cents per page. Because the MB491 MFP also copies, every copied page counts toward the 4,000 as well; heavy-coverage work will bring the fade point earlier than plain text work.

Why reorder by the number 44574701?

It is Oki's part number for this cartridge and the exact identifier printed on the supply itself. Model names multiply quickly in this printer family; the part number stays unambiguous, so it is the safest thing to reorder by.

Is this the original Oki cartridge?

No — it is a compatible 44574701 sold under our Clever Supplies brand and built to the same specification, with the same 4,000-page rating. The $28.45 price is the saving over the original-brand version.

What does the warranty actually cover here?

A 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns on every cartridge, spelled out on our shipping and returns page. Early fading, streaking or outright failure are all reasons to contact support, Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

How quickly can a replacement ship?

From the closest stocked site among our Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California warehouses, with most orders arriving within a few business days. The full range for this family is on our Okidata toner page.
