Frequently Asked Questions

Who is a 5-pack of these cartridges really for?

For the printer that never gets a quiet week — a front desk, a dispatch counter, an admin hub. Five Q5949X cartridges, each rated at 6,000 pages, give that machine a deep bench of supply for $107.94, so toner stops being a recurring interruption and becomes a shelf that simply gets drawn down.

How long can sealed cartridges sit before being used?

A long time, if they are kept sealed, flat and away from heat and direct sun. Toner is a dry powder; it does not evaporate or skin over. The fifth cartridge in this pack will print at full strength when its turn comes, which is exactly why bulk buying works for toner in a way it never would for ink.

What is the sensible way to work through five units?

Oldest first, one at a time, and let the printer finish a cartridge properly before swapping. Rocking a fading cartridge side to side buys back the settled toner near the end of its life. When the last-but-one unit goes in, that is your reorder signal — one full cartridge of cover remains while the next order travels.

Can this pack cover more than one printer?

Certainly. The cartridges are identical HP 49X supplies for the 1320 platform — the LaserJet 1320 and its close relatives — so a 5-pack can be the shared pool for every machine of that family in the building, drawn down wherever the need appears first.

What if a cartridge halfway through the pack misbehaves?

Each unit stands on its own cover: a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, with the detail on our shipping and returns page. Orders are sent from warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California, and support runs Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST. One bad unit never strands the rest of the pack.

Does heavy use change how the 6,000-page rating behaves?

The rating assumes standard text coverage. A front desk printing dense forms and graphics all day will land under it; a desk printing plain correspondence will land near or over it. Five high-yield units give heavy users headroom rather than precision.

About This HP 49X 5-Pack

This 5-pack of compatible Q5949X cartridges is the deep-stock option in our HP toner cartridges line-up for the 1320 platform: high-yield units, bought in a working quantity, for printers whose output is measured in thousands of pages a month and whose operators have better things to do than watch a toner light.

The 49X (Q5949X) was built for LaserJet 1320n, LaserJet 1320nw, LaserJet 1320t, LaserJet 1320tn, LaserJet 3390 and LaserJet 1320, and it drops into every one of them. Shelf-mates for the same platform include the standard-yield 49A (Q5949A) five-pack and the 49X (Q5949X) single cartridge.
