Frequently Asked Questions

The code on my old cartridge is CF402X. Is this its match?

It is. CF402X is the high yield yellow of HP's 201X family, rated at 2,300 pages, fitting printers such as the Color LaserJet M252dw and M277 models. Yellow occupies its own bay, and the stamped code on the spent unit is the surest way to order its replacement.

Prints have turned cold and blue-ish, but no warning mentions yellow. Why?

Yellow is the least visible colour on the page, so its fading hides: instead of an obvious gap, the whole palette cools — greens go blue, skin tones go grey, warm highlights vanish. A status page usually confirms it, showing yellow far below its companions. Replacing it warms everything back up at once.

What is the price of this yellow cartridge?

$31.43 for one CF402X yellow. It carries a 1-year warranty and is covered by 1-year free returns under our shipping and returns policy if it arrives damaged or lets you down early.

Do I have to change anything else when I install it?

No. Slide the old yellow out, this one in, and print a colour test page. The other cartridges stay exactly as they are — colour bays are independent, and single-colour replacement is how these printers are designed to be maintained between bigger restocks.

What kind of printing empties a yellow cartridge fastest?

Warm, dense colour: product photos, food images, autumn tones, gold and orange branding, full-page backgrounds. A desk printing mostly text with the odd chart will see a yellow last a very long time; a marketing desk producing warm imagery will draw down its 2,300 pages far sooner.

Where does it ship from, and what if the cold cast persists?

Orders ship from our warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California. If prints stay cold after the new yellow goes in, support answers Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST and can help you check whether a second channel is contributing to the cast.

About This CF402X Yellow Cartridge

Yellow rarely announces itself, which is exactly why its absence distorts everything else. This $31.43 CF402X restores the warm half of the palette at a high yield 2,300 pages — the cartridge to suspect when output looks chilly and no one can say why. Install it alone, warm the machine's colour back up, and let our wider HP range look after the remaining bays as each reaches its own end.
