Epson's own page for this printer makes the RIPS promise plainly: it ships with four T902 initial packs and prints up to 5,000 ISO pages without changing the ink packs — that 5,000 figure is the XL tier our shelf stocks: T902XL120 black, T902XL220 cyan, T902XL320 magenta and T902XL420 yellow (ISO/IEC 24711), DURABrite Ultra pigment. The standard packs rate 3,000 pages; the black-only XXL rates 10,000 and is reference information here, not a stocked compatible.

Read the badge carefully before ordering: the WF-C529R, one letter away, is a high-volume RIPS machine on T01C/T01D packs and takes nothing on this page. And the 924 cartridges sold for the WF-C4310/WF-C4810 pair are a different platform entirely — similar code, different printer.

Chip, ink and everyday use

The packs are chipped, and one practical note belongs with any chipped platform: a printer firmware update can occasionally precede a recognition warning with any compatible chip. Reseat the flagged pack and restart first; if the warning persists, the lifetime warranty covers the pack. Day to day, the system asks little of you — levels report on screen, and the pigment ink handles high-volume documents without smudging. Free returns apply for the first year on every pack listed. The four packs are independent positions: one colour can be changed mid-set without disturbing the others, and each pack's level reports separately on screen. A spare single in the drawer is cheap insurance against the one colour that runs ahead of the rest. Keep spare packs sealed until the day they are installed. At the 5,000-page XL rating, a spare Set of 4 on the shelf covers a long stretch of production printing.
