Frequently Asked Questions

I run a small business — what does toner for our 2155 really cost us per month?

Work it out from the set price and the ratings. This set is $52.28 and contains the 331-0719 black rated at 3,000 pages plus the 331-0716 cyan, 331-0717 magenta and 331-0718 yellow at 2,500 pages each. If your office goes through about 400 pages a month — invoices, statements, the odd color report — a set is roughly a seven-to-eight-month supply for the black and a similar span for the colors, which puts toner somewhere around $7 a month. Graphics-heavy work shortens that, because the ratings assume the standard 5% coverage and a full-color page uses several times that. Either way, it is a small, predictable number — and predictable is what a small business actually needs from a supply cost.

The title says "Premium Quality" — am I paying extra for those words?

No, and you can check that yourself: this Premium Quality listing is $52.28, exactly the same as the standard Dell 2155 set listing, with the same four part numbers, the same ratings and the same 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns. There is no premium charge and, on any specification we can measure, no premium difference to charge for. Treat the words as a name, not a feature. The features are printed in numbers on this page: 3,000 pages for the black, 2,500 per color, $13.07 per cartridge when you split the set price four ways.

What exactly am I getting for the money?

Four compatible high-yield cartridges — 331-0719 black, 331-0716 cyan, 331-0717 magenta, 331-0718 yellow — one for each slot of the printer, arriving together in one box. That is a full refresh of the machine rather than a single-cartridge top-up. The platform is shared across Dell's 2150 and 2155 family, including the Color Laser 2150cdn, the Color Laser 2150cn and the Multi-Function 2155cdn, so the set is also standard shelf stock if more than one of those machines is in the building.

Why not just replace the one cartridge the printer is complaining about?

You can — but watch what happens over the following month. The four cartridges were installed together and have aged together through the same jobs. When the first reaches the end of its rating, the others are typically within weeks of the same point, so single replacements turn into a drumbeat of small interruptions, each with its own order and delivery. The set changes the pattern: one $52.28 order, one ten-minute change, and the printer is balanced again — fresh black at 3,000 pages, fresh colors at 2,500 each — with the clock reset on every slot at once.

How accurate are the page ratings for planning a budget?

Accurate enough to budget with, if you remember what they measure. The ratings use 5% page coverage, the test standard every manufacturer shares, so they are reliable for comparing one cartridge against another. Your real total depends on your documents: text pages come in under the standard and beat the rating; pages with charts, photos or solid color backgrounds run well over it and land below. Budget on the rating, keep a set on the shelf as buffer, and the variance stops mattering — that buffer is the whole strategy.

What if I'm not happy with how a cartridge performs?

Then you use the returns policy: the set carries 1-year free returns and each cartridge a 1-year warranty, with the full terms on our shipping and returns page. These are compatible cartridges, not Dell originals, and that year of cover is the reason a small business can standardize on them without gambling. Orders ship from our warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California, and our support team is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
