How does the 2550's rotary engine handle a four-cartridge change?
The cartridges sit in a rotating carousel, and the printer presents them one at a time at the front door. You advance the carousel, exchange the cartridge shown, and repeat until all four are fresh. No tools, nothing to unscrew — the design assumed from the start that owners, not engineers, would do this at a desk.
Why does the black carry a higher rating than the colors?
Because a black page is usually a text page at light coverage, while a color page lays down three colors at once. At 5,000 pages the Q3960A is sized for document duty; the colors, at 4,000 pages each in step, are sized for the share of work that is actually in color. On graphics-heavy output the colors finish first; on correspondence the black does.
Is the imaging drum one of the four items in the box?
No. Like its predecessors, the 2550 keeps a separate long-life imaging drum that is replaced far less often than toner and is not part of this set. Fresh toner cures fading and most streaks; a mark that repeats down the page at a fixed interval, untouched by new cartridges, is the drum asking for attention instead.
What cover does the purchase include?

Can I install only the cartridge the printer is asking for?
Yes — the channels are independent, and the remaining sealed cartridges keep their quality in a drawer. Many owners change the colors in one visit for the sake of a balanced palette and let the black follow separately, since its consumption pattern rarely matches the colors'.

I don't see any difference between the quality of this product and the one supplied by HP. I hope the life of the ink is at least as long as HP's cartridges. If it holds up I will definitely place a double order next time so that I don't run out

Was a little wary about going with an "off brand" toner cartridge but so far so good. Haven't had any troubles with it so we'll probably continue to get more of this brand. Colors seem just finereally no issues at all.
