Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the networked 7800DN seem to run out of black first?

Because everyone in the department can reach it. A 7800DN sits on the network and takes walk-up and sent jobs from a whole team — and the overwhelming majority of those pages are black text: reports, printouts, drafts, forms. The color cartridges sip; the black cartridge drinks. That is why this platform's black supply is an extra-high-yield design rated at up to 24,000 pages.

What does the DN configuration mean for toner ordering?

Nothing complicated: the letters describe the printer's own configuration, not a different supply. The DN takes the same 106R01569 black cartridge as every other Phaser 7800 variant, so whoever orders for the department only ever has to remember one code for black.

How long should one cartridge last a shared machine?

It depends on the team's appetite. At 1,000 black pages a week — a brisk pace for a departmental printer — a 24,000-page cartridge lasts around six months. At half that pace, about a year. Either way the swap interval is long enough that black toner can be a calendar item, not a recurring surprise.

What does the department pay per black page?

About 0.47 cents in toner: $112.34 spread across up to 24,000 rated pages. For a shared machine, that per-page figure is the one worth tracking, because page volume — not cartridge count — is what a networked printer actually consumes.

The listing name says "Cartridges" — how many arrive?

One cartridge. The name is plural; the box is not. This page is the single immediate replacement. Offices that prefer a ready spare for the department's printer will find the same cartridge bundled in the family's two, three and five packs.

What cover and shipping come with it?

A 1-year warranty and free returns for a full year, per the shipping & returns page. Orders ship from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, support runs Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and the balance of the range sits on the Xerox supplies page.
