Frequently Asked Questions

What does the "DN" on my printer actually stand for?

It describes the printer's hardware configuration: on the Phaser 7400 range, the DN is the networked model with automatic two-sided (duplex) printing. The letters after "7400" are about what the machine does with paper and networks — they were never a toner distinction.

So do the letters change which black cartridge I buy?

No. Every Phaser 7400 configuration — the base Phaser 7400, this Phaser 7400DN, the Phaser 7400DT, Phaser 7400DX and Phaser 7400DFX — takes the same black cartridge, the 106R01080. This listing simply names the DN because that is the badge on so many office machines.

How does duplex printing affect the 15,000-page rating?

The rating counts printed pages — impressions — not sheets of paper. A two-sided sheet carries two pages, so a duplex-heavy office works through the rating in half as many sheets. The cartridge does not care; only your paper bill notices the difference.

How many cartridges are in the box?

One. The title's plural "Cartridges" is catalogue wording; this listing is a single 106R01080 at $73.70, good for up to 15,000 pages. Multi-packs of the same cartridge are sold separately and are named and priced as packs.

What does the toner work out to per page?

About 0.49 cents per black page — $73.70 spread across the cartridge's 15,000-page rating. On a networked machine serving a whole workgroup, that per-page figure, not the cartridge price, is what your department's printing really costs in toner.

What cover comes with this cartridge?

A 1-year warranty and free returns for a full year, detailed on our shipping and returns page. Orders ship from IL, PA, GA and CA, our support team works Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and the rest of the family's supplies are listed on our Xerox page.
