Frequently Asked Questions

Everyone on the network sees the magenta warning — whose job is the reorder?

On a shared 6500DN the low-toner alert pops up on every workstation, which usually means nobody acts on it. The practical answer is to make one person the supply owner for the machine and order the 106R01595 when the warning first appears. Despite the plural wording in the title, this listing ships a single compatible magenta cartridge at $31.95, rated at up to 2,500 pages — a small, routine reorder that beats an emergency scramble later.

Can I check the magenta level without walking over to the printer?

Yes — the DN is a networked model, and its embedded web server shows a supplies status page with each cartridge's estimated level. Type the printer's IP address into a browser and read the magenta gauge there; it is a faster check than the front panel and useful when the machine lives in another room or another office.

Does two-sided printing stretch the cartridge further?

Duplexing saves paper, not toner. The 2,500-page rating counts printed page images, and a two-sided color sheet carries two images, so a run of double-sided brochures spends magenta at the same rate per image as single-sided work — you halve the paper stack, not the cartridge bill.

Why do the first brochures in a long run look redder than the last ones?

That gradient across a run is a fading cartridge caught in the act. Red is mixed from magenta and yellow, so as the 106R01595 weakens mid-job the reds steadily lose their magenta half and finish orange. If page one and page fifty of the same file no longer match, the cartridge — not the file — has changed.

Which other machines take this same magenta?

The Phaser 6500DN shares the 106R01595 with the Phaser 6500, the Phaser 6500N and the WorkCentre 6505DN end of the WorkCentre 6505 family — one supply design across the whole platform.

What cover applies once the cartridge is installed?

A 1-year warranty, with free returns for a full year — the terms are written out on our shipping and returns page. Stock ships from Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California, and support responds Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
