Frequently Asked Questions

Does duplex printing on the 6500DN save toner as well as paper?

Paper, yes — toner, no. Two-sided printing halves the sheets you consume, but every printed side still carries the same toner coverage it would on its own sheet. A duplex-heavy office will see its paper costs fall while the cartridges keep their usual rhythm, so plan toner orders by page count, not by reams saved.

What arrives in this 6500DN set?

Four high-yield cartridges, one for each position: black 106R01597, cyan 106R01594, magenta 106R01595 and yellow 106R01596. It is a complete refresh for the machine in a single carton — no second order needed to finish the job.

How far should the set go in a workgroup?

Black 106R01597 is rated at up to 3,000 pages, with cyan 106R01594, magenta 106R01595 and yellow 106R01596 at up to 2,500 pages each under the 5% coverage standard. On a shared DN unit printing reports and handouts all day, expect the colors to turn over first if your documents lean on charts and branding.

Is this set specific to the DN model?

The cartridges are the shared 6500 family units. Alongside the 6500DN, they fit the Phaser 6500 and the Phaser 6500N — the duplex and network features differ between models, but the toner bay is the same, and the part numbers on your current cartridges settle any question.

A color is fading only on longer runs — is it the cartridge?

Usually the level, yes. As a color approaches empty, the first pages of a run can look fine while later pages wash out. Print the printer's test page and check the reported level for that position; if it reads low, a fresh cartridge from the set is the fix, and the remaining three can stay in reserve.

What cover comes with the set?

A 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns apply to all four cartridges, as set out on our shipping and returns page. Orders ship from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and support is on hand Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
