Frequently Asked Questions

The printer has four slots — why does this set hold five cartridges?

Because the fifth is a shelf spare. The set carries five cartridges drawn from the same four part numbers the machine uses — black 106R01597, cyan 106R01594, magenta 106R01595 and yellow 106R01596 — so once the four positions are filled, one cartridge remains in the cupboard ready for whichever slot runs dry first. It turns the next low-toner warning into a two-minute swap instead of a delivery wait.

What are the page ratings of the cartridges in this set?

Black 106R01597 is rated at up to 3,000 pages, and cyan 106R01594, magenta 106R01595 and yellow 106R01596 at up to 2,500 pages each, all at the standard 5% coverage. Every cartridge in the box, the spare included, is a full high-yield unit with the same rating as the ones installed.

How should the spare cartridge be stored?

Leave it sealed in its packaging, lying flat in a cool, dry cupboard away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Kept that way, a cartridge waits patiently for months; the only rule is to install the oldest stock first when you hold more than one spare.

Can I install just the colors that are low and keep the rest back?

Yes — the machine tracks each position separately, so there is no need to change a cartridge that still has life in it. Many owners fit the flagged positions, put the remainder aside, and top up one slot at a time as warnings appear.

Which machines is this 5 color set for?

The Phaser 6500 and the Phaser 6500N. Both take the same four part numbers — 106R01597 in black and 106R01594, 106R01595, 106R01596 in the three colors — so the set serves either model without variation.

What warranty and delivery cover is included?

A 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns stand behind every cartridge, with particulars on our shipping and returns page. Stock ships from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and help is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
