Frequently Asked Questions

Does duplex printing on the 6500DN use up cyan twice as fast?

No — but it is a fair question. The 2,500-page rating for the 106R01594 counts printed pages, and a duplex sheet carries two of them, so a run of double-sided color reports moves through the rating at the same per-page rate as single-sided work. What duplexing really changes is how quickly the stack of finished documents grows, not the cost of each printed side — about 1.28 cents of cyan per page.

The title says "Toner Cartridges" — is this a multi-pack?

It is not. This listing is one compatible cyan cartridge at $31.95; the plural in the title is catalog wording, not a count. One 106R01594 is what a 6500DN reporting low cyan takes, and that is what arrives.

Why does the networked 6500DN seem to warn about cyan earlier than expected?

On a shared machine, everyone else's color work draws on the same cartridge. Marketing's flyers, a colleague's photo prints and your reports all come out of one cyan supply, so the level falls faster than any single user's habits would suggest. The status page viewable over the network shows the remaining level, which helps whoever orders supplies plan ahead.

Which printers share this cartridge?

The 6500DN sits in the middle of a family that includes the Phaser 6500 and the Phaser 6500N, plus the WorkCentre 6505 models — every one of them takes this same 106R01594 cyan cartridge, so a spare bought for one machine covers the others.

Can I finish a job after the low-toner warning appears?

Generally yes, for a while. The warning is triggered at a reserve level, not at empty, so text and light graphics usually continue cleanly. Dense color work is where fading shows first — if a client-facing color document matters, change the cartridge before the run rather than mid-way through it.

What backing does this cartridge come with?

A 1-year warranty, with free returns for a full year, set out on our shipping and returns page. Orders dispatch from Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California, and support is staffed Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
