Frequently Asked Questions

What does the fifth cartridge in this set do?

It waits. The set is built from the C500 family's four part numbers — black 106R03869, cyan 106R03866, magenta 106R03867 and yellow 106R03868 — with a fifth cartridge from the same family included as a shelf spare. Four go into the machine for a full refresh; the spare covers the next slot that runs dry.

How long should each cartridge last?

Ratings at 5% coverage are up to 12,100 pages for the black 106R03869 and up to 9,000 pages each for the cyan 106R03866, magenta 106R03867 and yellow 106R03868. Real life varies with coverage, but those are long intervals for a workgroup machine.

Which models take this set?

The Versalink C500 DN, Versalink C500N, Versalink C505 X and Versalink C505S.

How do I rotate stock so nothing sits too long?

Use the oldest cartridge first — when the spare goes into the machine, that is your signal to reorder. Keeping one spare in rotation, rather than a deep stockpile, keeps cartridges moving and the printer covered at the same time.

Can the spare serve a second machine?

Yes, if that machine is also in this family — a C500 or C505 model. The part numbers are the same, so the spare is not tied to one specific printer.

What is the price and what cover comes with it?

The set is $126.88, backed by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns as described on our shipping & returns page. We ship from warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California; support is available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
