Frequently Asked Questions

The new magenta is in, but the first pages look slightly off — should I worry?

Not yet. Run ten or twenty color pages first: a fresh cartridge needs a little work to reach its full, even density, and the earliest prints off any new supply can look a shade light. If reds are still pale after a short run of pages, then the cartridge itself is suspect — but on a WorkCentre 7970, give the 006R01511 its warm-up before judging it.

Is this the full-capacity magenta for the 7970, or a smaller version?

The full-capacity one. The 006R01511 is rated at 15,000 pages — the standard, full-size magenta for this entire platform — and at $96.46 it comes to roughly 0.64 cents per page. The flagship 7970 and the smallest 7525 draw on exactly the same cartridge; there is no separate high-capacity variant to hunt for.

Is this a single cartridge or a color set?

A single magenta cartridge. These WorkCentres take four separate color supplies, each with its own listing and its own lifespan, so you replace the one color that is spent and leave the rest working. If magenta is what your 7970 is asking for, this one cartridge is the whole purchase.

Which other machines use this same cartridge?

Nine stablemates share it with the 7970: the WorkCentre 7525, WorkCentre 7530, WorkCentre 7535, WorkCentre 7545, WorkCentre 7556, WorkCentre 7830, WorkCentre 7835, WorkCentre 7845 and WorkCentre 7855.

For color-critical work, how do I keep output consistent between cartridges?

Judge every new cartridge on its tenth page, not its first, and use the same paper for work where color has to match — paper changes shift color more than cartridge changes do. A cartridge that still prints pale or streaky after its warm-up is not a consistency problem, it is a defect, and it is covered by the warranty below.

What guarantee comes with it?

A 1-year warranty and free returns for a full year, on the terms of our shipping & returns page. If the cartridge fails to perform — pale, streaked, leaking — we replace it or refund it.
