Frequently Asked Questions

Why would anyone keep six colour cartridges on the shelf for one printer?

Because of what a dead colour bay costs on this class of machine. A Phaser 7800 run is rarely a stack of cheap letter pages — it is tabloid posters, proof sheets and presentation boards, each one carrying real paper and finishing cost. When a colour empties halfway through that run, the sheets already printed are scrap and the job restarts when the replacement lands. Six cartridges of depth on the shelf turns a colour change into a two-minute pause instead of a cancelled deadline, and on a machine that earns its keep by the finished sheet, that insurance is the entire point of the box.

What exactly does the set contain?

Six cartridges spanning the three colours of the 7800 platform: cyan 106R01566, magenta 106R01567 and yellow 106R01568, every cartridge rated at 17,000 pages. The listing is sold as six cartridges across those three colour codes; it does not fix a count against any single colour, so check the shelf against your own usage pattern rather than assuming the split. There is no black cartridge in the box — black lives on its own listing and its own replacement rhythm.

How should six large cartridges be stored so the last one is as good as the first?

Keep every unit sealed in its bag, lying flat, in a cool dry cupboard away from radiators, windows and direct sun — heat and light are what age a stored cartridge, not the calendar alone. Work the stock oldest first: when a new set arrives, it goes behind the cartridges already on the shelf, never in front of them. A cartridge taken out for a swap should be rocked gently side to side before fitting, so toner that has settled in storage redistributes evenly across the unit.

Does buying in sets lock us into sets when one colour runs ahead of the others?

No, and on this platform one colour usually does run ahead — a studio whose brand work leans on reds will eat magenta 106R01567 faster than a studio printing coastal photography eats cyan 106R01566. The set cartridges and the single listings carry the same three codes, so a colour that outruns the shelf can be topped up with a single cartridge by code while the rest of the set stock waits its turn. Order by the code on the empty cartridge's label, not by the colour name alone.

Which printers is this set made for?

The Phaser 7800 family: the 7800, 7800DN, 7800DX, 7800GX and 7800DG. Paper handling, finishing and networking separate those models; the colour engine is common to all of them, so one shelf of 106R01566, 106R01567 and 106R01568 stock serves any variant — or several variants side by side in the same print room.

What happens if one cartridge out of the six turns out to be faulty?

It is dealt with on its own. Each cartridge carries its own 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, so the faulty unit is replaced or refunded individually while the other five stay on your shelf and stay covered — there is no returning the whole set to settle one bad cartridge. Delivery runs from whichever of our IL, PA, GA or CA warehouses is closest to you, support answers Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and the full delivery and returns detail is on our shipping & returns page.

About This Six-Cartridge Colour Set for the Phaser 7800

This is shelf depth for the colour side of the Phaser 7800 platform: six cartridges across cyan 106R01566, magenta 106R01567 and yellow 106R01568, each unit rated at 17,000 pages, at $438.50 for the set. It is built for print rooms and graphics departments that run these A3 machines against deadlines, where a colour bay emptying mid-run costs more in scrapped tabloid sheets and lost time than the stock on the shelf ever will. The colour split is not fixed by the listing, and single cartridges in the same codes are stocked for topping up whichever colour your work consumes fastest. Black is a separate listing; the wider range for these printers is gathered under Xerox. Every cartridge carries the 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns set out above.
