Frequently Asked Questions

The name says "Cartridges" — how many am I actually getting?

One. This listing is a single 106R01080 black cartridge at $73.70, rated for up to 15,000 pages. The plural in the title is a naming habit of the catalogue, not a quantity — if you want spares, the same cartridge is sold in two-, three- and five-packs on their own listings, and those listings say so in their names and prices.

Is this the same cartridge as the listing sold under the part number alone?

Yes, exactly the same cartridge. Some buyers search by the number on the spent cartridge — 106R01080 — and others search by the printer on their desk, which is why this listing leads with the 7400 name. Both roads end at one black cartridge for the Phaser 7400 family: the Phaser 7400, Phaser 7400DN, Phaser 7400DT, Phaser 7400DX and Phaser 7400DFX.

What is the yield, and what does the page cost?

Up to 15,000 pages from the one cartridge, which at $73.70 puts the toner cost at roughly 0.49 cents per page. That is the high-yield fill for this printer's black slot, so the swap interval is as long as this family offers.

Is this black only, or a set with colors?

Black only. This cartridge feeds the black position of a color printer; the cyan, magenta and yellow positions take their own separate cartridges, which are listed separately. Nothing in this box is a color cartridge, and no color yields are bundled into the 15,000-page figure — that number is black pages alone.

How long is one cartridge likely to last?

At roughly 1,500 black pages a month, about ten months; at 3,000 a month, about five. Wide-format color machines often print less black than an office mono printer but in bigger bursts — proofs and print runs — so judge by your own job history rather than the machine's color badge.

What if the cartridge gives me trouble?

It is covered by our 1-year warranty, with free returns for a full year — the terms are on our shipping & returns page. We dispatch from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, answer questions Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and keep the whole family of supplies together on our Xerox toner page.

About This 106R01080 Cartridge

This listing is the printer-name route to the family's standard single: one compatible 106R01080 black cartridge, $73.70, up to 15,000 pages. It exists for the buyer who knows the machine — a Phaser 7400 — better than the part number, and it delivers precisely one cartridge despite the plural in its name.
